San Ignacio Missions tour – 6 hour
The town of San Ignacio is located just 50 miles north of Mazatlan, on the way we will visit San Javier, an small missionary town. While we approach to SAN IGNACIO, you will notice the huge riverbed of Piaxtla river, one of the longest in Sinaloa state. After a while , a nice architectural arch, welcome us to the peacefulness of this mystical town.
San Javier and San Ignacio where founded by the Jesuits in the XVI century, and they were two of the first missions formed with local natives.
Some of the sights are: A giant Christ located in the top of an scenic hill, an ex- monastery nowadays a museum , where you will see old items of the Jesuits ,the temples of San Ignacio de Loyola and our Lady of Nativity and the handmade broom and roof tile factories . After this, we will stroll on cobblestone streets , while hearing scary legends the natives talk about .
